I had never read this story though I had seen several made for TV movies about it. In writing an article, this book came up. I realized I had to read it. I’m glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. After reading so many contemporary books, I had to remind myself that it was written in a different time where the writing style was more verbose and descriptive. Once I did that, I found myself lost in the story until the end of the book. Then I wanted more.
I wanted to know what happened to them all as they grew up and their lives became more full and exciting. But I guess that is left to my imagination. I completely understand why this book is called a classic. It has so many lessons to take to heart while at the same time giving us characters we can cherish and possibly relate to.
If you haven’t read this book, I suggest you do. If you have but it has been a long time, then I suggest you read it again.
Note: This book was bought with my own money with no expectation of a positive review.
