When I pick my kids up from a basketball practice or from school, I get the low down on who is doing what and who is not speaking to whom. It’s downright fascinating once you get past the initial eye rolling you can’t control and the sigh of “here we go again.” After all, it has been years since I’ve been in that position, and the world has changed drastically in that time period. If I had to write a book about high schoolers, I’d fail. But I have great teachers in my kids.
From the second they get in my presence, they start talking and don’t stop until we physically separate or I tell them to put in a cork in it. Sometimes you have to do that to understand who is talking to who and about what.
