Who is Your Muse?
The muse is a funny thing. It can be a person or thing or most commonly that unseen entity that drives you to the edge of insanity. It is what gets you in the mood to write, draw, and create.
My muse has a tendency to pull inspiration from anywhere at any time. I can be sitting in a meeting and suddenly get a story idea. Needless to say that is not always the perfect time. Troublemaker! Wanted to call her that, but seems to bland for her actions.
Your muse can be a place. Some people can only write in a certain spot. Only there can they feel their stories come alive.
A muse could be special kind of music or even a particular person. While the muse could be different, the actions are still the same.
The Actions of Your Muse
No matter who or what your muse is, the muse is a troublemaker. They call on you at the most inappropriate times.
I hate it when I’m sitting in a meeting or at church and an idea for a story hits me. It usually when I don’t have a pen or paper to jot the idea down with. Of course, the idea sounds great, and I’m afraid of forgetting it by the time I do find something to write it down on.
Your muse is a big troublemaker. Don’t expect anything less.
Oh, the Names!
We probably call our muse many different names. Some of them are not repeatable in mixed society. Some might not should be repeated at all. But I feel they would all be so appropriate.
Personally, I think everyone should name their muse. It helps to identify who you are screaming at. Lessens the confusion around you. It can be very embarrassing to have your children think you are screaming at them about the death of a character.
