A picture writing prompt is a picture. It can be any picture from anywhere taken at anytime. You use it to help you find inspiration for a story.
Picture writing prompts give you visual stimulation. You see a scene and let your muse concoct a story from it. There Is no telling what the inspiration might be.
Any time you look at a picture, you need to ask yourself...What if…?
A million what ifs could be asked for each picture. What if the picture was fake? What if their expressions are lies? What if that was me? What if….? What if…..?
Step away from what the picture actually shows. Let your imagination run wild. There are no boundaries.
Creative writing means no limits. People don’t have to follow the law of gravity if you don’t want. The story is just a prompt. You don’t have follow it exactly as it is portrayed. Just because someone is smiling in the picture doesn’t mean they are happy. There could be anything else going on.
So where do you get these picture writing prompts? LIterally anywhere. Use family pictures, historical photos, public domain pictures, and even those from magazines. I have created events with pictures and even a few books to help you out.
