Not Too Many Groups
Don’t join a million groups at once. Pick up to five and concentrate on them. Get to know the people in those groups and let them get to know you. During that time, you’ll discover that some groups are not worth your time. In that case, you can leave the group and find another to explore. Keep the number of groups small until you are established and can handle networking in more.
Not Too Many Social Platforms
Don’t get every social media platform at once. Get established on one and learn the ropes before you move onto the next one. Why? It could bite you in the rear if you aren’t careful. Spreading yourself too thin hurts you horribly in the long run. Also, you need to feel completely comfortable on one before branching out further.
I have been there. At the time I was so excited and involved that I had no idea what was happening when I burned out. All the experts were telling me to do these things, so I did. None of them warned me of the dangers. It was a lesson that I had to learn the hard way. I couldn’t handle all the time I was spending networking online. It was too much for my emotionally, physically, and with my family. I didn’t take it slow. Afterwards, I had to start over. Not good for business.
