Facebook groups are designed to bring people together over a common theme or purpose and to interact. It can be a book club or people who love to explore cemeteries. It can be a group of homeschooling parents or even kids. They have a similar interest and interact. Individuals can share things based on admin rules. It’s like a big party. You have to be invited or request to join a group.
Typically, Facebook pages are set up by individuals or companies to promote their products and/or services. You can like their page to get regular updates on new posts. It is the page administrator’s way to communicate with those who support them. Well, that means it is not for you to post things.
Yes, some pages allow you to post on their wall. Never do it unless you have their permission. To just go out and post things is rude. I had a page set up for sharing book reviews. Several authors began posting their own books on my page to get others to buy them. What? Not cool! When I said that I was removing all posts that had not been given prior approval, those authors went off on me and started bad mouthing me online. All because they entered my page and started to party without permission. They got banned and on my do not work with list.
When you are networking, you need to make sure that you show respect to everyone. That means to members of a group and admins of every site. Go into groups and pages with caution. Get to know people. Read the rules. Don’t share anything unless you have made sure it is alright. Respect will get you further than being rude does.
