Go to them. Participate in them. You don’t have to be there for the entire event, but show up long enough to interact with people in a meaningful way. Let them get to know you and you to meet new people, you’ll be glad you did.
There are many online events out there. Some are put on by publishers and others by authors. Most popular are the book launch parties. An author has a new book coming out, they create an online event to celebrate. Usually there are online games and giveaways. The point is to interact and talk about their book. Network by going there. You might find them more willing to attend yours.
No matter what the event, try to attend. Again, just make an appearance and interact. You don’t have to get involved in something you don’t like.
Note that if you want people to come to your events, go to theirs. I have noted that many authors are selfish this way. They invite everyone and their brother to come but never reciprocate when invited to an event. One author I wrote off my networking list because she said she was too busy to attend mine but harassed me to go to hers. Sorry, networking doesn’t work that.
