Purpose of a Profile
A profile is how people get to know you and find you. They read an article you have written or a comment you have left or even a post you have shared. They like what they see. How do they get to know more about you? How do they see if you have written books and where to find them? They go to your profile and read it. Yes, they do because I didn’t have the right info on one of mine I had forgotten about. Someone left me a harsh message on how is anyone supposed to buy my books if I don’t keep a profile updated. Good point. Since then, I keep that profile updated with the most current info and links.
Everywhere is the answer. All social media sites should have an updated profile. Any place you write for including your own website should have a good profile. If a site asks for any personal information about you, then keep it updated. You will regret it if you don’t.
What to Put in It
You don’t want to get too personal. It is nice to add where you live in a general sense. Either the country, state, or city. Don’t get anymore specific than that.
Give your credentials. How long have you been writing? Have you won awards or contests? What have you written? Where can they find more of your work whether it is articles or books? Give the readers what they need to know to want to buy your books even more the have the ability to do so.
