Guest Write vs. Guest Post
Guest posts and guest writing are the same yet totally different. Guest posts usually are done once only on blogs that feature virtual book tours or are willing to help out a fellow author. Guest writing can be the same, but typically it is much more and gives you the appearance of a professional writer. It is a steady appearance.
There are several sites that invite writers to contribute material to them on a regular basis. Some even pay for the posts. These are sights that have large audiences which helps you get more exposure for your work. Think of it like having a regular column in the newspaper.
Check with magazines and newspapers. You’d be surprised where you might be able to become a regular. Check out Huffington Post, HubPages, BellaOnline, and others. There are many places out there where you could sign up to be a regular contributor.
Don’t Be Shy
You can’t be shy when you are looking for guest writing. It is basically freelance writing, but you are doing it with a specific purpose of promoting your expertise and your book. These sites will not come to you. Push shyness aside and go ask. Fill out applications. Submit forms and resumes. Be persistent and determined.
Be an Expert
By being a guest writer, you are showing yourself as a good writer and an expert. Write quality pieces on how to arrange flowers. That’s okay. I’ll see how much you know and how well you write. Then I see on your profile that you write fiction. Oh, my! The cover of your book has flowers on it. Now I’m hooked. See how it can work together?
