How They Work
Someone becomes the host. They set up the date, the criteria/guidelines, and the signup form. They also market the blog hop for blogs to sign up for. Blogs then sign up for a spot and get their material ready.
Most hops are themed. Each participate is to choose a book to promote that meets that theme. They are to give a copy of that book away or any other material that meets the host’s guidelines for that particular hop. I’ve had some that could only be books, had to be gift certificate or something related to the theme.
On the day(s) of the hop, each blog host promotes it. When people enter to win their prize, they look at the list of participants and begin to hop to each one to enter for more prizes.
How You Market With
So, now you want to know how this helps you market your book. Well, if your book meets the theme of the hop, you can offer it as a free item. If it doesn’t, make sure your book is featured on the side of your post and/or at the bottom. The blog hop is getting people to your site. Then you need to get their attention drawn to your book.
